PPL Electric Utilities employees volunteer 660 hours during National Volunteer Month

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (May. 11, 2026) – From planting trees and brightening community gardens to painting, raking and supporting local organizations, PPL Electric Utilities employees gave back in meaningful ways throughout April — National Volunteer Month — building on the more than 16,000 hours of volunteer service they provided across the region in 2025.

Throughout the month, PPL Electric employees participated in volunteer events across the company’s 29-county service territory, including the communities of Allentown, Harrisburg, Scranton and Williamsport. In total, 129 employees served 660 hours across eight events, helping improve neighborhoods and support local nonprofits where they live and work.

“Empowering the communities we serve goes hand in hand with delivering safe and reliable power,” said PPL Electric Utilities President Christine Martin. “When our employees volunteer, they’re not just donating time, they’re strengthening the communities they call home. That service creates lasting, positive impacts for our neighbors and helps make our region a better place to live.”

Many of April’s volunteer efforts aligned with Earth Month, with employees planting trees, improving community gardens and distributing free pollinator plants. Other activities included painting and general cleanup projects that helped refresh shared public spaces.

While National Volunteer Month marks the first major volunteer initiative of the year, PPL Electric’s commitment to service continues well beyond April. In May, employees will prepare a community garden in Allentown and take part in the Schuylkill United Way’s annual Day of Caring, one of the company’s largest volunteer events of the year. Additional opportunities throughout 2026 include supporting the Little League World Series, packing and delivering school supplies and completing environmental improvement projects across Eastern and Central Pennsylvania.

By continuing to expand volunteer efforts every year, PPL Electric remains committed to strengthening the communities it serves through hands-on service, teamwork and local engagement.
