ALLENTOWN, Pa. (June 29, 2026) – As temperatures climb and energy use increases, PPL Electric Utilities is encouraging customers to take advantage of tools and programs designed to help them maintain control over their energy costs while staying comfortable.
With hotter weather upon us, PPL Electric Utilities encourages customers to explore the Bill Toolkit, which includes a variety of resources to better manage their bills, understand their energy use and access support when needed.
“Higher temperatures can mean higher energy use, and we know that can put pressure on household budgets,” said Lisa Norden, Vice President of Customer Service for PPL Electric Utilities. “We're here to help with clear choices and practical solutions customers can use right now to take control of their energy use and better manage their bills.”
The Bill Toolkit offers solutions for all households, regardless of income, making it easier for customers to find options that fit their needs.
Manage your bill
Customers can take steps now to make their payments more predictable and manageable:
- Budget billing provides consistent and predictable monthly payments by averaging energy use over time.
- PPL Alerts help keep customers in control of important bill due dates and energy supply price changes to the Price to Compare.
- PPL Electric mobile app, available for download, gives customers 24/7 access to monitor usage, track costs and manage their account at their convenience.
Manage your energy use
Small changes can make a difference, especially during peak summer months, by helping customers reduce usage and lower costs without sacrificing comfort. Customers can use the Energy Analyzer to see when, where and how their home uses energy, empowering them to make informed, cost-saving decisions. They can also schedule a Virtual Assessment to get personalized recommendations with a free home energy assessment; from no-cost and low-cost tips to tools, programs and rebates on energy-efficient products, a variety of options are available to help customers improve energy efficiency and reduce bills.
In addition to these options, PPL Electric also recommends trying these simple energy-saving tips to reduce your energy use today:
- Make sure drapes and shades are pulled down during the day to block out the hot sun.
- Set thermostats between 72 and 78 degrees. Customers will save energy for every degree higher they can set their thermostats.
- Try not to use large appliances like dishwashers, stoves, washers and dryers during the warmest hours of the day.
Get help paying now
For customers who may need additional support, assistance programs are available to provide flexibility and relief:
- Payment arrangements allow customers to pay past-due balances over time and stay on track.
- OnTrack offers predictable monthly payments and debt forgiveness for eligible customers.
- PPL Electric’s Operation HELP provides grants to assist with electric bills.
Understand your electricity supply rate
About one-third of PPL Electric’s residential customers were shopping for electricity supply as of May 2026. Customer experiences vary depending on supplier and contract terms selected. In May, customers paying rates above the Price to Compare collectively paid about $7.2 million more than the default rate, while those paying below it saved approximately $2.3 million. These differences reflect the range of products and pricing options available in the competitive market.
PPL Electric encourages customers to stay informed and review their options carefully:
- Use the Price to Compare as a reference when evaluating offers on PaPowerSwitch.com.
- Ask suppliers for details about contract length, fixed versus variable pricing and any cancellation fees.
- Periodically review your rate, set calendar reminders, and check your contract terms.
“With energy supply prices on the rise, it’s important for customers to actively manage their energy supply choices by understanding their electricity supply options and contract details,” Norden said. “Taking a few simple steps to stay informed on prices and contract options can help customers make choices that best fit their needs.”
With hotter months ahead, PPL Electric encourages customers to explore these options now to stay comfortable, stay informed and stay in control of their energy usage and costs.
