ALLENTOWN, Pa. (October 31, 2025) – In response to growing concerns about food insecurity, the PPL Foundation today announced $100,000 in emergency funding to support agencies working to close gaps in food access for vulnerable populations throughout eastern and central Pennsylvania . 

“We are committed to helping our neighbors through difficult times,” said Lissette Santana, president of the PPL Foundation. “We’re proud to stand alongside community agencies  responding to a growing public health challenge and working to provide a critical safety net for those most at risk.” 

This funding will help keep essential food pantries stocked with critical staples and ensure that food and financial assistance is distributed efficiently to where it’s needed most. 

“At a time when many of our neighbors are facing uncertainty around their SNAP benefits, this generous gift offers not just nourishment, but hope,” said Shila Ulrich, chief executive officer of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. “We are deeply grateful for this support, which will help ensure families across our communities have access to the food they need. 

This emergency support builds on the PPL Foundation’s ongoing commitment to helping families in need. This year, the Foundation has also contributed $400,000 to the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation’s Good Neighbor Energy Fund, which helps individuals facing financial hardship stay warm and safe across eastern and central Pennsylvania.
