Electricity Works in Torquay
Western Power Distribution

A £2million investment project to improve the electricity infrastructure in the Torquay area will commence in January 2011.

Western Power Distribution (WPD) will be renewing underground cables connecting two key substations in Barton Hill Road and Torwood Street.

Paul Jewell, WPD’s Distribution Manager for the area said: “This is a major project and involves the excavation of a trench along the route. There may be traffic disruption as work progresses, but we have been working closely with Torbay Council on traffic management measures to minimise the effect of the works on road users and residents.

“Wherever possible we will be concentrating on holiday routes before Easter, and have planned works near schools during school holidays,” he added.

The project is scheduled for completion in June.
