£350,000 Investment for Ollerton’s Power Network
Western Power Distribution

Western Power Distribution (WPD) is investing £350,000 on its electricity network in north Nottinghamshire to safeguard supply reliability.

WPD became the electricity distributor responsible for the Midlands in April 2011 and this new initiative involves it laying 1.4km of 33,000 volt cable between Bescar Lane and the A614, which currently provides electricity to around 7,000 customers every day.

“Our aim is to invest to maintain the reliability of electricity supplies for years to come,” said Pat Bates, WPD’s Distribution Manager for the area.

“We expect to complete this current initiative by August 2013, and we have been working closely with Nottinghamshire County Council’s Highways Department so that construction work disruption is kept to an absolute minimum. Our discussions have involved agreement on the most suitable times to carry out the work, so as to avoid traffic disruption during peak times as far as possible.”

The initiative forms part of WPD’s commitment to provide a consistently high level of service to customers which involves investing over £2 billion on its electricity network between 2010 and 2015.
